Get ready to teach using tools provided in this section.

  • Cover California Minor Consent Law: This law allows youth ages 12 and over to access sexual health services, such as a pregnancy tests/options counseling, STD tests/treatments, birth control, and abortion in a clinic without their parents’ consent. It also allows youth to access these medical services during school hours without it affecting their attendance. All information is confidential.*
  • Cover Condom Availability Programs (CAP): This is a Los Angeles Unified School District policy that requires condoms to be made available to senior high school students unless parents do not consent. (http://aidspreventionlausd.net/condom_availability.html)
  • Go over the different titles and roles/responsibilities of medical staff (e.g. receptionist, intake staff, nurse, nurse’s assistant, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, doctor, pharmacist, etc.)
